6 Tools and Resources to help you this month

I keep a list of ideas  for my blog on topics or articles that I think might benefit my readers. My list is getting long and while I think I will still write longer posts on some of these, I wanted to get the resources into your hands so you can start using them and making plans based on what you can learn. So here in no particular order are some tools and resources for you!

1. Diversity in Images

For my U.S. based readers, this is Black History Month. How about making a commitment to increasing diversity in your images. Potential guests and employees want to see themselves reflected in your visuals. Here are some free tools:

Black Illustrations. This website has sets of images for different industries that features ” Black people doing extraordinary things” according to founder John Saunders.

nappy.co – Photographs of “Beautiful photos of Black and Brown people, for Free”

A list of additional links in this blog post should help make it easier to increase diversity in your images.

2. 2022 Trends

I have been writing  Trends for the Next Year posts since 2018, but I decided to leave it to the experts in 2022. Skift is the leader in providing information and trends in our industry, both macro and micro. This year Skift was generous in providing their Megatrends 2022 for free.

Download your copy here. What trends do you think your business can take advantage of? What trend might cause a threat in the future? I will write some future posts on trends I think will affect my readers, but for now I want to get the resource into your hands – and brain!

4. Do you have plenty of time to get everything done?

Did you just LOL??!! I am always hearing from Tourism pros like you who are doing multiple jobs with fewer resources.  We are all in a challenging phase. But I have a way to help.

My online course, Time Management for Tourism Professionals was one of the most popular courses on the TourismProAcademy platform last year. In this course, you will learn about 5 different ( but easy) ways to get control over your time and get more done with less stress.  One student told me:

It was great learning about different techniques. I generally felt I was pretty good at time management, but it’s been harder working from home, so having different ways to go about it is great. I feel like I’ll use the Pomodoro Technique more at home, but will likely use more of the Pareto 80/20 rule as we get back to the office. I can also see how I’ll use the Parkinson’s method in both situations. L. B.

The course is regularly $39.99 but you can receive $10 off with a FEB22 coupon code. Click here to learn more and start getting your time – and sanity back!

5. Read a Book

I know, I know, you hardly have enough time to swallow a sandwich at lunch ( See Time Management above!) But if you read just one more book this year, it will put you ahead of the pack. It will open you to new thoughts and ways of seeing the world and your career. I created a list of some of the books I think are most helpful for Tourism Pros and even recorded short video reviews for you too! Check out TourismProAcademy.com or click this link to go straight to the Best Books for Tourism Pros. Do you have a favorite business book you think I should add? Reply to this email and let me know!

6. Need help with Training and Education in 2022?

My team and I have been providing live webinars via Zoom since 2019 ( yes, before the COVID!). It is a great way for DMOs to provide training to partners who are spread out over big distances and create a Video training library at the same time. With so many new staff at jobs in our industry, training has moved from a ‘nice to have’ item in a budget to ‘ We must provide this‘.  My team and I would love to help you through our Online Tourism Training Program. We can provide content or create new content to suit your needs. We will manage the registrations and send out reminders the day of the webinars. Check out Online Tourism Training information here or just reply to this email to set up a time to talk. We are currently booking for May 2022 and beyond.

May I ask a quick favor?

Today is the last day to be nominated for Groups Today Influencer in Travel. If I have been helpful and influenced your career in the last few years, would you take a moment and nominate me? I would be honored to receive this designation. Here is the link. Thank you for considering me!
