One of the biggest challenges in the Tourism industry is that the majority of us work in small businesses. In the United States, the definition of a small business can be based on the number of employees or the annual receipts. Suffice it to say that after looking through this chart, I am confident that most of you work in a small business- in fact over 95% of U.S. businesses are considered a small business.

One of the biggest challenges with small businesses is the lack of resources, would you agree? Whether it’s staffing or budgets, we all learn how to make do with less. Or sometimes we have to let opportunities pass by, because we just don’t have the bandwidth to take advantage of a new program. But we all do the best we can because we love the Tourism industry, we love the products that we promote and we live to see the smiles on our customer’s faces when they are creating memories. But it would be nice to have some help.

As many of you know, I have been in the Tourism industry for over 20 years. I have spoken at conferences, met you for coffee and cocktails, and scheduled calls so you could get some help and advice.
